Why do you need faith in the first place?

In this message from A Skeptic’s Guide to Belief, Pastor Justin Jenkins teaches from 1 Peter 3:15–16. Science and progress have changed how we live, but questions about meaning, human worth, and eternity remain. Whether you’re skeptical of Christianity or have believed for years, explore why faith still makes sense and why our deepest longings may point to more than this world can offer.

Have we really outgrown our need for God?

This message will help you:
• Bring your real questions into the room with God
• Get clearer on what your hope is resting on
• Answer curiosity about your faith

Scripture References:
1 Peter 3, verses 15–16 – Explain your hope with gentleness and respect
1 Corinthians 15, verse 19 – Our hope in Christ reaches beyond this life
Genesis 1, verse 27 – Human beings are created in God’s image
Ecclesiastes 3, verse 11 – God places a sense of eternity within us

What if God already changed your position, but your perspective is still stuck on earth?

In this message Pastor Justin Jenkins teaches from Colossians 3:1-4. Paul starts with what Jesus has already done: He has given us a new position in raising us with Christ. That position should give us a new perspective. But sometimes we still have trouble seeing God's truth.

This message will help you:
• Look back at God's faithfulness without treating the past like a finish line
• Let your perspective catch up to your position in Christ
• Measure today by forever, not only by what you can see

Scripture:
Colossians 3:1-4

Knowing time is short shouldn’t make you frantic. It should make you faithful.

It’s easy to spend your life putting off what matters most. We assume there will be another opportunity, a better season, or more time. But seeing today in light of eternity changes what deserves our attention and what we can’t afford to keep postponing.

This message will help you:
• Stop handing God’s assignments to an imaginary future you
• Tell what feels huge today from what will matter forever
• Live today in light of eternity, not in panic

Scripture:
1 John 2:17 – The world passes away, but those who do God’s will live forever
James 4:13-15 – Life is a mist; tomorrow belongs to God
2 Corinthians 4:18 – Fix your eyes on what is unseen and eternal

The Promise of The Prompt | Just Ask

How much do we miss because we never ask?

In this message from Just Ask, Pastor Justin Jenkins teaches from Matthew 7:7-11. Jesus does not just give permission. He gives a promise. Ask, seek, and knock are not three techniques for getting something from God. They are three pictures of dependence.

This message will help you:
• See why Jesus attaches a promise to a simple ask
• Stop treating prayer like a presentation God has to grade
• Bring Him what you have been managing

Scripture:
Matthew 7:7-11 — Ask, seek, knock; your Father gives good gifts
Matthew 6:8 — Your Father knows what you need before you ask
James 4:2 — You do not have because you do not ask God

The Power of The Prompt | Just Ask

August 23rd, 2026  |  31 mins 40 secs

just ask, learner, prompt, proverbs, teachable, velocity church lawrence, wisdom

Have you ever gotten exactly what you asked for and realized it wasn't what you needed?

In this message from Just Ask, Pastor Justin Jenkins teaches from Proverbs 4:7 and Proverbs 2. We carry more answers than any generation before us, yet wisdom still feels scarce. Whether you're learning, leading, or trying to grow, this message invites you into a teachable posture, so the questions shaping your life lead somewhere deeper than more information.

What if the growth you've been waiting on starts with a better ask?

This message will help you:
• Trade looking informed for staying teachable
• Notice wisdom already around you
• Bring real need, not polished certainty, to God and others

Scripture References:
Proverbs 4, verse 7 – Get wisdom; though it cost all you have, get understanding
Proverbs 2, verses 1–6 – Call out for insight; the Lord gives wisdom
James 1, verse 5 – If you lack wisdom, ask God who gives generously
Matthew 11, verses 28–29 – Come to Jesus and learn from Him
